New York is Robot City!
Will there be a robot (or many robots) in every home? Bill Gates thinks the robotics industry is today where the PC industry was 30 years ago – about to take off into exponential growth.
As we’ve organized this program, we’ve discovered an amazing amount of interesting robotics work going on right here in NYC.
Our robotics panel includes:
- Farshad Khorrami, Director of the Control/Robotics Research Laboratory (CRRL), Polytechnic University (Brooklyn). Dr. Khorrami’s lab (and his company) are designing drones (robot airplanes and helicopters) in Brooklyn!
- Brian Peek, Senior Consultant, ASPSOFT, Inc. Creator of "The Finalizer," the first Battle Bot to operate using Microsoft .NET
- Eric Singer, Founder, LEMUR (League of Electronic Musical Urban Robots). Check out lemurplex.com for more Brooklyn robotics.
- Elizabeth Sklar, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Dept. of Computer and Information Science, Brooklyn College, City University of New York. Dr. Sklar is on the board of trustees of the RoboCup Federation, and also the chair of RoboCupJunior (RCJ).
Podcast - coming soon
In addition, the lobby had display tables with cool robot stuff from robotics companies and organizations including:
- IntelliTech Microsystems, Inc.
- Robot Village®, a unique place where you can buy, build or learn about robotics, will be demonstrating a few of its most popular bots!
- Lemurplex.com: Musical robots from Brooklyn! And others....
